With the Covid-19 emergency, the world crisis was not only economic, but also political, social, ethical and cultural. The Institute of Mechanical Intelligence of Sant'Anna School participates in the eCHOing project, funded under the Erasmus+ program, which aims to counter the crisis due to the COVID-19 emergency through the updating of educational tools and the design of innovative and sustainable teaching methods within a socially responsible culture.

eCHOing intends to recover cultural heritage through open innovation by creating a bridge between Higher Education Institutions and society that will allow citizens to participate in digitally empowered activities such as hacktivism (activism through hacking for a social purpose), the maker movement (inventions based on do-it-yourself technology), citizen science (citizen participation in scientific research) and crowd initiatives (such as crowdfunding and crowdsourcing).

The project is coordinated by the Norwegian University Of Sciences And Technology and involves, in addition to the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence, the University of Sofia (Bulgaria), TARTU University (Estonia) and OSYGY & Web2Learn (Greece). The goal of the project is to create innovative and sustainable teaching methods with the support of HEIs (Institutes of Higher Education), universities, local and national museums, cultural associations, and libraries.
